Thanks to recycled scripts and phases of written mediocrity over various decades we have also amassed a global collection of recycled notions. A few I can think of right off the bat are:
- Nearly ALL movies that feature a submarine that gets into a depth charge barrage, have a guy who gets crushed by a torpedo that falls from the rack.
- In some fight scenes you'll see a person get shot through the palm of their hand, leaving a gaping hole and all of the fingers stretched out wide, so you can really see the hole. But, that's not what would happen. The fingers that lost their connective tissue and metacarpals would flop down with gravity.
- A classic I don't see as much anymore is the scene where people are being chased by wildlife, angry villagers or footie fans, and the woman slips and falls......

Another trope you see here and there involves bonding metals. In the African Queen they travel through river rapids and break a blade from the propeller. So in an African jungle they are able to "weld" a new blade, made of God only knows type of steel, onto a cast metal propeller? And then they show it spinning up underwater and it's wildly out of balance, sure to break the prop shaft or shake loose the fittings. Aside from that, the story is based in reality. A ship was dismantled and carried overland using mules to an isolated African lake, and reassembled.
Then there's Eastwood managing to "weld" part of a nail file onto a spoon handle to make a digging took. Welded with burning paper! But hey, he did escape from Alcatraz!
