Scored a 2nd place finish today. I'm pretty sure I led most laps too, too 2 car all race but I fucked it late and let 2 guys get underneath me. I managed to get back into 2nd though finishing behind team mate.
I also started on Pole Position. =)
I think I led the most laps though so I should pull out a 30 point lead heading into statistically my worst track so it helped pad my point lead for that race.

Oh, damn, I did not lead the most laps, 39/100 though. So I will be... 28 points in the lead heading to my worst track. I shouldn't come last there though cause I will tough it out, hopefully top 15. I'll lose a lot of my lead though unfortunately unless these guys wreck but they're good at Sonoma so yeah, I'm expecting the worst. Still, about 2 months in championship lead now, feels so good hehe.

I'll be going for a top 15 on thursday
If I can make 50 laps without a mistake I should get a top 15 out of it and that should dwindle my lead down to about 10 points. Which is still cool a championship lead doesn't mean too much right now as it gets erased for playoffs however the championship leader at the end of 26 races is the legit championship leader starting the playoffs so it means a little bit.
If I continue to run every race until playoffs I should be one of the 3 that can make the lead. But 4 of the 26 races are drop rounds, so you do not count your 4 worse races.
This gives people up to 4 opportunities to have a week off, or, forfeit bad races.
I am one of the few that have raced all 14 rounds at the moment and I haven't been disqualified like others, that's why my point lead is as big as it is. Mind you 2nd is in the same position, but he ain't won a race or been as consistent as me. 😎

So any contact with another vehicle either your fault or not is 4x. 2x for a loss of control or contact with the wall, 1x for going off track. So they add up. 12x is a drive through penalty and 16x is disqualified from the race. It just helps clean up the racing so people can't go and cause wrecks on purpose as 4x incidents = disqual. On the bad side, you could get spun out 4 times that's not your fault and still end up DQ. Iracing doesn't discriminate. |

Our Thursday races get broadcasted on iRacing TV. So yeah, there are spectators. Usually not so much live but a lot of American views when they get off work or out of bed.
There are series where if you win, you get a contract with a real race team to see how you go. None of us have the credentials to race that series though and just like real life, you'll probably need sponsorships to make it.

Race day in about... 5hrs practice will open.
So I'm getting more confident with the track and car, still not awesome but I'm hoping good enough to last 45 laps. It's a weird track. We have 4 gears in the NASCAR and we're only using 2nd and 3rd over a 1:40s lap. It wheelhops too much going into 1st gear and the hot California sun makes the tarmac too sliperry to really get out of 3rd gear.

I switched from H pattern to paddle shifting, it's easier and less mistakes.
I found some more speed. Qualified 9th.
About to start in about 15mins.
Im nervous and scared. The race should go for just over an hour. I'm just going to run safe and make minimum mistakes see what happens.

8th place!
Hard race did what I said. Made no mistakes and finished 8th.
There is suspicion the winner wasn't actually racing, it may have been someone we banned before logging in as someone else.
If so, I'll come 7th.

One of my side Admins is lodging a complaint to iracing and asking to check IPs. If it is somebody else driver for him, both drivers will be permenantly banned from iRacing and one of them is on "road to pro" so if they've done this and fucked up, his life is literally shattered cause this is all he does, has sponsors etc.
If its true they're dickheads, they should have just won by a few seconds, not lap the entire field it's a give away.
Anyway wrapped with my 8th. Average finish of 8
7.5 on road course week. 😊 I'll take that any road course week of any year lol.

It's official. He's now apologised to us. I'm going to be about 20pts in championship lead now, still good, i thought it would be around 10 lol
