I still think this is bullskirt I know some don’t like my twisted sense of humor. But that’s ok. Nevertheless, I offer this platform toward empowering the vertically impaired. We don’t discriminate toward any walks of human life on this farm. I know. Im a party pooper but I know how it feels to be made fun of for looking different so I'm sensitive Also I'm a millennial

No Banning ? Is this really true Hypothetically, yes. HOWEVER, none of Candy's crew has shown up yet... why would we ban them when here we can say anything we like? : P

Can we get this place a bit more stable? You know, there are people not signing up to this BECAUSE of it's "test site" status.. and all this changing the look and the name and all this stuff.. it's the kind of thing you do with maybe five people on board.. and then when it's settled everyone else comes in. So I don't think we should be thinking of anything to do with getting ANYONE else over here.. until we have something decent that we plan to leave that way. And a proper URL. If we get on with it, we can maybe still get word of it out on Hip. Wait too long, and everyone will be banned.. haha. I'd meant to wait until the new board was done. I've got GB looking at the vB thing.. and it looks good what he's done, but it'd be better if all our efforts were concentrated in one place. I wish I understood what it was you were waiting for. I know you want to see if enough people are into this.. but like I said, some don't want to get involved until things are settled.

I guess it's a matter of priorities, and I'm really not the one to be setting any. All of the aims I had in mind have been met and exceeded. After all, the core group here represents a relatively small part of the landscape over at HF. But HF wasn't exactly thriving or this group might be larger in the sense that more people would have been looking around for a cool discussion. For me the greater part of the issues I had with HF were personal and years in the making. The fact I let it go on so long is a testimonial to my skewed priorities. I don't go there anymore. The only reason I like this provider is because it allows me to keep being a very cheap bastard. Otherwise I'd prefer software that's easier to deal with. But I have the same problem with vB. I'm learning both as I go. Over here I can do all the crazy shiit my mind can ignite. I'm not much of a manager, and never wanted to be. I'm even worse as an accountant. This place lets me ignore both! Also, we can buy a domain and pay $15 to have it point to this place any time we want. Or we can pay $10 to reassign this free domain, since ZenHookah is anathematic.
While I'm playing games with the banners, I am also working to refine the other elements of the site. Some of the themes have been hard on my eyes!

Some of the themes have been hard on my eyes! no worry, panic. i get what you're doing. i just don't think now is the time to keep inviting people and getting everyone settled here, if it ends up changing again. i'd pay the ten dollars.. if you just redirect.. doesn't the real url of all the separate pages show up down below? If this is going to last, it should look done properly. money really isn't an issue. i don't know why this part keeps coming up. Egg, me, mel, rolling, dice.. all said we'd contribute financially. I plan to just pay ALL the cost of starting on vB and then i think we can easily sustain the community with donations. my idea was to have a paypal.. every month the balance is stated, and outgoings stated.. and then people can donate as much or as little as they like, when they have it, when the site needs it.. and it stays transparent.

I'm not concerned with the costs, it's dirt cheap. Once we start operating on a paying basis, with supported software, all the wish list items can see the light of day. Some of them need a proper systems/software person to deal with. I'd be fine if it was done in Fortran, but.............. Also, have you see the vB manual yet? It's online and it's massive. Thankfully they also operate a forum (shocking, I know) for people who paid for a forum, exclusively. So most of the discussions are straight to the point. It should be obvious that I don't operate at a consistent speed.

I do think that's important in the lasting thing. i'd have to see what the paid version of this was like. I know vB is pretty beyond me. If GB weren't helping, I would give up on the idea. i am fine with the way this place functions though. i'm used to it already, not like reddit. but also I wanna make the treefort : ) I like that the name has a root in us leaving Hip, that it has meaning from the comment mel made.. if no-one else had seemed to like it i might not have become so attched to the name but i think others do and i think it suits us as a group. Big kids of one variety or another. lol either way we're all here talking and hanging out and that's great. that's what I want the most.

I still think I was kind of right. Little people are people, and I only seek to empower them. Eric, of all people, should know better. Everyone should know better, though. But if you can't empathize you can't, I guess.
I just don't think it's right to harden a people.

Big kids of one variety or another. lol either way we're all here talking and hanging out and that's great. that's what I want the most. whichever direction this ends up going, my advice is not to be intimidated by the coding, or the manual, or what have you. as you know, i put together a forum back in the day. that forum looked damn good if i do say so myself, included all the functionality of any of these other forums we're using, plus we had a huge flash arcade, a handful of extra non-forum pages like a home page and a couple multiplayer games not supported by the arcade, and even a fewking dating site (please don't do the dating site, i was coerced into adding that and it was awful). my point is not to say i'm great at coding, but actually the exact opposite. this was literally my first experience dealing with anything like that. honestly, i don't know what fyrenza was even thinking asking me to do it in the first place. but, this stuff has been done to death by now, and the people who really do know what they're doing know how to set it up so us regular people can make it work. most of the work is done for you, and if you're ambitious and want to make your forum more than just what comes with the package, there's forum-owner-forums out there where a thousand other people have already asked how to do what you want to do, and you can just look up the answer and implement it. or ask for yourself. sure, i taught myself some coding stuff in the process, and i've recently taken a much greater interest in the subject, but it's honestly not at all necessary. it looks scary from a distance but once you jump in, most of the work is already done for you and the little bit of extra stuff is very easy to figure out, even if you don't actually know how it works. personally, i'm happy with any of the currently available options. so whatever the consensus is, is fine with me. all i'm saying is i see a lot of posts along the lines of "we have to stick with such-and-such option because i can't computer", but you really don't need to be able to computer for any of it. so ultimately my point is, don't rule anything out because it looks scary.

I just don't think it's right to harden a people. i always thought you were kind of right. sure, you could have expressed it better. but your point was absolutely valid. personally i'm kind of on the opposite end; i don't think people should be offended by any words. but i'm also against double standards, and it seems ridiculous for eric (who i do think is a good guy overall) to say that slurs are hilarious unless they are used against him.

Getting offended is a choice people make.

I'm with undies. Words don't have any power I don't assign to them myself. Getting offended is a choice people make. Spot on. But also it can be deliberate. For example someone might tell you where to go rudely. But then proceed to follow you around just to stir you up incense lover, some of us are arguing for your return to treefort, but it's not going well. Some of the people there can't be nice...they just can't. They're snooty. (Which is ironic, as they're so insistent they're "regular Joes".) So you might be better off. I don't know if you dwell, ever, on people's harsh words, but you shouldn't. We don't know what we're talking about. Honestly!
