Why hip? We left that.. has to be new... You're right of course. And since the discussion is all over the place, it's hard to come to anything resembling a consensus. I hoped to stimulate the discussion by rotating the motif, if only to demonstrate that in terms of a name, we have all the flexibility in the world. But ones we lock it in, we're stuck with it. This is the main reason I didn't buy the HipForumsSucks.Cok domain already. While I do want to rake them over the coals, I don't want to do it with our new site. Be it here or wherever the paid effort is going. Or both. I keep bringing up UKHippy.com and UKHippy.boards.net. The .com version was formed years ago when they had a beef with S kip. They are another set of rift orphans that goes back many years. The .boards.net site is a spin off from a rift on the UKHippy.com site. This is actually quite amazing. Also, UKHippy.com was shut down for a while and only recently came back to life. A 3rd generation from a site fallout on Hip Forums. Folks, all I can say to that is Far Out Man! |

The Joint sounds ok. So hip it hurts sounds ok. I liked the first name. Probably should have left it the way it was if you want a permanent name. I believe Hip Tree Log or Hip Tree House was the name. Ironically i kinda like the constant name change, background change thing. Its like you log on and don't know what to expect as a name or background. So that's kinda cool. Like in 4 hours what will the background be and forum name be. Hopefully something different. This is exactly what I had in mind. While everyone was getting used to the site I wanted to keep the overall charter in everyone's mind. If we can agree on an overall purpose of a sort, the name of the site will come to us organically. If we jump to the name, we will be inclined to confine the site into something that justifies the name. What blows my mind is that I was changing that stuff like you said, and other than some grousing about stability and how the lack of it will chase away people, and it was like nobody noticed. So I went over the top a few times and finally got a reaction from bagel. So, I made us into a bagel shop after a brief bit as a job service for robots. I'm trying to drive some imagination here. This is a blank canvas and I'm being told we must conform to someone else's idea of a good site. It blows my mind folks. lol, i guess that was aimed at me ; ) The grousing about stability and chasing people away. I was only repeating what I knew as fact, that some were put off by test site status. And I mostly cared about a stable name back then because I wanted to put it all over Hip and get banned for that. Now I'm banned anyway, it really doesn't matter. I like this place. I will hang out here, as well as the other effort we're trying out. But yeah, I feel a few of us already felt we'd found a separate identity to hip, and had a solid idea to create.. which we're doing alongside this. So you know.. keep changing it.. maybe that IS the identy of THIS place : ) |

I was addressing it to reveal I'm not just knocking about for the hell of it. Like the reddit site, which I can still barely figure out, this one will not just vanish. There are things we can get away with here that we will not risk on a paid site. |

in all honesty I was just giving you a hard time as a joke. I like that it changes all the time. if you don't want to be confined to a box just change it all the time. I was going to suggest that earlier but i also felt it was unfair as it would be more work for you

I dont like hip, and I hate secret... I liked the broccoli thing.. it worked as being unique.. adding hip and secret makes it sound like we are all damaged and running away from hip.. which most if not all are not.. there are still people on both.. it just sounds tacky!
