Coca-Cola is about the weirdest combination one can come up with. And yet, it's at the top of the charts globally for a century now. We have peculiar yogurt flavors as well. Some of this is to SEEM good for a kid's lunch, like adding a packet of sugar sprinkles to yogurt. 
 
Oreo Coca-Cola sounds revolting to me, but then, I didn't care for Red Bull either. 
 
Variety is one of the things America holds up as a tradition. It goes back to the last depression when store shelves were bare. In marketing they teach retailers to face as much variety as possible. These days they do it by setting up end cap displays of disparate items as well as duplicating rows.
