i think i just found what you're referring to. if you click on the "new" button next to the thread instead of the thread title itself, it takes you straight to your first unread post.

That was the problem I ran into. People were getting banned left and right and even as a moderator I was unable to find the "offending" posts. Often that was because a whole series of posts were deleted, first by a mod, and then completely by an admin. For a long time I could see all the deleted thread entries. Then they were all gone.

I gave up. This is the 3rd time, and I'm all about Abner Doubleday.
