It just occurred to me, What if we got kicked out of TreeFort? vBulletin will happily change your domain (for a fee) and otherwise leave the site intact.

The reason I entertain this is because I have been booted many times before.....

The first was Compuserve. I was too vulgar in the CB Simulator (Chat room). This was 1984!
Next was GEnie which also had a chat room. I was booted when I threatened a Mod. This was 1987.
I was on PC-Link until 1993 when I was booted for telling someone how to make hashish.
I was only on Prodigy for a few months in 1994 and hated it utterly.
Then came America Online, hundreds of chat rooms and other diversions. Dumped it in 2004 when moderators finally made the Life - Marijuana Debate chat room basically unusable.
In 2005 I discovered the chat room at Hip Forums. You didn't need an account to chat. Nobody was trying to censor anyone and S kip dropped in often. But that came to an end around 2020 when Hip Forums became more about Woke than Hip. I didn't wait for them to toss me out, and I was a moderator. Sk ip used to answer my PMs. What was the point of banning so many people?

What's amazing to me is that I have outlived all of the friends I had in high school, the Navy and college. Among all of them the smart money was on me croaking first. I was the only guy at my school who made painfully loud explosions, Concord grape wine and an AM radio transmitter. I missed Vietnam by about 5 years or so, so all I could embrace was the radical strife because it was still going on.

For some reason my electric friends and associates seem to be lasting longer than my real ones. I'm willing to see that as a 21st century phenomenon.

Having heard nothing at all for days now, and I'm supposed to be a moderator, I can't help but grow suspicious. My last conversation about donating to the site went nowhere.

The first time I donated was to YouFreeMe, cash in an envelope. I have another envelope with the same address, ready to go. But nobody answers, not even GB. I'm not going to blindly mail cash.

The site was paying by the month which is usually the kiss of death. So maybe they just let it expire without telling anyone so we'd just flail about uselessly wondering what happened. A petty punishment for failing to support the site. A site that costs $20 a month if you don't weigh it down with add-ons.

This free site was just an interim solution I assembled to help all of the banned people as we all sought a "real" site solution. So many lamented me calling this Zenhookah, but that was just a nod to zenfuckwad, who is on my turd polish avatar. Me being petty is all, hardly worth all the "triggering".

We even debated the name for Treefort on this site. I personally didn't care for it and thought it was sophomoric. I didn't think new members would take it seriously, but I was shouted down. I have also been shouted down/ignored every time I brought up site promotion.

Again, it's the lack of contact that I'm reacting to. I think they can leave the site in limbo for a month before vB deletes it for good. The current message will likely change. vB will probably make some kind of offer to get another member to assume the bill.

We'll see I guess. But like Hip Forums, I'm not going to hang around people who want to spend the day in conflict. It's why I left. I was deleted as a Hip Forums member about 6 weeks after I wrote to s kip and told him to go fark himself for letting the site go to hell. It used to be a real resource, like the Mother Earth News. Then it became a weird political hate machine.

On the flip side, then there is Irms, site would have died anyway two years ago if she hadnt been there. You can already see the effect here of her not being here

We do seem to have weathered a lot of division on these sites, of course when I mentioned "cliques" back at Treefort, I weathered some resistance, to the point of openly denouncing it so that it would calm down. But I couldn't help but see that, in so many ways. The tipping point on that was when I was called out and flamed by the "powers" in the Pit.

Sadly, I really think there's too much division for a site with the same members to continue. I admittedly fell into the political trap too, as I got tired of the one-sidedness at HF, so I started biting back, which I regret now. I've noticed several interesting things between sets of posters at TF. Being at HF, and TF as well as here have taught me some modern day life facts that I needed to learn to navigate in life.
