personally i would just go straight into the real thing, rather than a second temporary home with what i assume are limited options. but either way, thanks and good job, this place seems pretty good from the little bit i've seen so far.

I agree completely. There's no reason to shut this down unless we decide to go for a paid platform. And the only reason I see for that is to score a buck. And this platform actually has options for that, but I'm more inclined to use a more established platform if I'm going to gamble thousands of dollars to make tie dyed t-shirts with time-sensitive messages. Also, I think the Reddit site should be maintained. It's a place where core members can meet. |

Reddit is a good "life boat". It's a good place to fall back to if we think we have some kind of infiltration. Like some disgruntled sorts dropping nasty shiit in the forums. Also, each forum is set up to be owned and moderated by the people they are named for. I just haven't set them up as mods because I don't know how many will want to have individual forums like that |

Exactly, it's an open system. It could be filled with assholes very quickly. And since we don't all know who is who, something foul could slip in to pees everyone off. Having the reddit board means the founding group always has a fallback to discuss matters in a disconnected manner. After all, it was a collection of assholes who brought all of this about. Most of us were minding our own business. OK, sure, I was trolling Beavis, but, he's SO trollable, he practically begs for it. Sue me. |

So is the plan to keep this site? I asked in the shoutbox thing but now i can't see back far enough to know if anyone replied. I gotta be honest.. I'm never going to feel at home on a free website with a name like zenhookah. Everything else is great.
But if we're going to build something to rival hip, we've got to do it right?
If everyone else is happy with this, I'm not going to interfere. But I'm not going to leave HF for this. It doesn't feel stable. I don't even know why it's "zenhookah".
I'm not going to get banned at hip for telling everyone they'd be better off on some free personal forum that's still lacking identity. Neither am I going to start creating threads or putting effort into somewhere that doesn't feel like it's for real.
Just my thoughts.

I agree, I like this place but it does feel kinda amateurish. I don't mind but it isn't likely to attract lots of traffic. But, I'll do whatever you guys decide; I just don't know anything about starting a forum but I'll chip in and help where I can.

Now we have to flip on a dime to become operators. That's why I'd rather hammer it all our before having to invest in it. I'd like to know we can do this and do it better than those other assholes. I don't think it will be so difficult if those jokers are the example. Zenhookah is an example of stoned humor on my part. We can change the domain for $10. |

Well i'm happy to set up a paypal in my name, buy the forum.. then just give the details to whoever wants to run it.
I'm thinking you, Dice.. Undies, GB and WP if he wants to do it this way. The four of you seem, between you, to have the knowhow and ability. And after the initial stage, as we've said, it won't take much maintaining.
Seems like there should be a woman involved, for diversity : P I know Mel doesn't have a great desire to be a mod, but hopefully she will agree to, at least in name.. just because like VG has pointed out, she is a focal person for many. She has been around a long time and lots of people will go where she goes.
But I also don't want us just to be making false start after false start. we'll lose the momentum and everyone end up spread out. those still on Hip will just start posting there primarily again. We don't need to test anything out. We know we're all into the idea. We want to start creating real content. I have thread ideas! This is artistic expression for me! But I don't want to put time and enrgy into something half hearted. I want to get oooon with it. This place IS good, in terms of the sub forum names and the colours.. but yeah, it just feels a bit amateur.
And WP.. I just think no one else really cares about the selling pipes or whatever. If that's your motivation and you want to do that, we'll support it so we can have our hang out at the same time.. but if you want to do that, still more reason to do it properly.
